Having trouble planning lessons for the computer lab? We've found some of the best sites to manage bookmarks on the web. Next time you have a list of sites you'd like your students to visit, list them using one of these: MyBookmarks and SiteJot.

Our favorite bookmarking site is MyBookmarks. With MyBookmarks, students can access bookmarks anytime, anywhere. The website offers a free productivity tool for student use. The site is fast, simple, and has no banner ads. One of the coolest features is a unique "remark" facility which allows one click import from Internet Explorer. You can import your favorite links from surfing at home, allowing lesson planning ahead of time that is easy and efficient.

When a student clicks on a link in MyBookmarks, a new window opens. This makes directions easy. When finished with the current activity, the student simply closes out the window and the list of links is still up in the browser. Additional links can be added while students are logged in to the same account, allowing for real-time changes in the link list. All the students must do is reload the page once the link has been added.

Another excellent online bookmarking site is SiteJot.com. Similar to MyBookmarks, this site allows you to store all your bookmarks/favorites in one online location, making them easy to access and manage from anywhere. Your bookmarks (organized by category) are displayed on a simple, well laid out page. SiteJot will even integrate with your web browser, allowing you to bookmark any site you are currently visiting with a click of your mouse.

We like SiteJot's bookmark organizer for its banner/pop-up free pages, options to open links in a new window, enable a Google search bar, place JavaScript descriptions for mouse-overs, make your bookmarks public (see them at: public.sitejot.com), and enable an RSS feed.

You can access a longer list of bookmarking websites by accessing Google Directory. Click here to see the list.
