Science For America is looking for bloggers. A blog is like a journal on a specific topic. There are lots of blogs on the World Wide Web, but not many on science education.
You'll be writing informative articles to appear on our homepage. A Science For America blogger must be versatile, creative, experienced and well informed on their chosen topic. CLICK HERE if this sounds like something you're interested in.

The statement "a picture is worth a
thousand words" has haunted writers for ages. It gives
photographers a leg up on their counterparts, since photographers
only have to find the right angle and lighting to convey what could take even the most skilled writer a couple of pages
to convey.
I just finished listening to an audio presentation from Dan Pink,
author of A Whole
New Mind. At the end of the presentation, one statement stood
out in my mind as a great take home message. "While a picture might
be worth a thousand words, a metaphor is worth a thousand
pictures."
My challenge- to find great metaphors in science!

For the past two years, digital video has
quickly taken hold of science educators' attention as a valuable
tool that can be incorporated into the classroom. While it may be
true that a picture is worth a thousand words, a short video or
animation may be worth a thousand pictures. It makes sense then
that educators are looking for access to libraries of easily
searchable, FREE, and quality video. Enter YouTube and Google
Video.

I have found some of the best free science worksheets on the Internet. I've been using these for the past two years in my own physical science classroom. The pacing is excellent, the curriculum is well thought, and the mix of exercises and content make these resources well worth the visit. You can find these resources from Mr. Murray's website by clicking here.
